As the Director of Content for Learners and Makers, part of Rucksack Press Inc., Jodie St. Clair manages social media strategy, community, online photos and videos, and content development. She is also a world traveler, wife, above-the-knee amputee, and homeschool mom.

After 25 years of teaching Suzuki violin and early childhood music, the need to travel the world with her family was just too strong. Instead of running two separate businesses, in 2021 Jodie and her husband Anthony combined forces professionally, and began creating travel content together as Learners and Makers.

When Jodie was 13, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had her left leg amputated above the knee as part of her cancer treatment. At the age of 14, she was granted a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Jodie chose to travel to Kauai, Hawaii, with her parents and sister. This trip inspired Jodie’s love of travel.

More than many people, Jodie understands how important it is to appreciate every day and live in pursuit of goals and dreams. Yet she also knows how to relax with a good book, a cup of coffee with half and half, and her favorite shows, from the latest YouTube travel video, to watching One Piece with her Straw Hat family.

As the Director of Business Development for Learners and Makers, part of Rucksack Press Inc., Anthony St. Clair creates original online travel content, and coordinates business partnerships with brands and DMOs worldwide. He is also a writer, author, traveler, husband, and homeschool dad.

As a freelancer writer, Anthonys articles and copywriting have been published with various publications, companies, and DMOs, including Business Insider, Eugene Magazine, The Register-Guard, The Roanoke Times, and more.

Childhood trips from Nashville to New York City made travel an integral part of Anthonys life. As a young adult attending Tusculum College (now Tusculum University) in Tennessee, Anthony participated in a student exchange program at Napier University, Edinburgh, Scotland. His time in Scotland changed the course of his adult life. Along with traveling in the UK after college, Anthony lived and worked in Scotland and Ireland, and he has visited Australia, Canada, and Japan with his wife and business partner, Jodie St. Clair.

Anthony has worked in print and online content since 1995, including urban newsrooms, national sales companies, and travel startups. Since 2011, Anthony has worked as a full-time independent freelancer, copywriter, and ghostwriter. He manages website content for corporate and small business clients, and he is known for crafting approachable and informative articles. As an author and publisher, Anthony has published seven books and a range of short stories.

Ever since he was a little boy in Virginia, Anthony has understood that the world was bigger than he could imagine, and he devotes his time as a father to showing some of the world to his two kids. You can often find him with a cup of black coffee, reading Lord of the Rings to his children, or re-reading his favorite books from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld or Louise Penny’s Three Pines series.

Connor St. Clair went to his first country (Japan) when he was 15 months old.

When he’s not playing Minecraft, you can find Connor reading a book or discussing strategies for his latest game. Japan is Connor’s favorite country, but he’s also a big fan of Moroccan mint great tea, Italian tortellini, and wandering Thai street food markets with his dad.

Aster St. Clair went to her first country (Canada) when she was 7 months old.

When she’s not reading books or playing Roblox, you can find Aster swimming in lakes or solving Sudoku puzzles with her mom. Japan is Aster’s favorite country, but she also has especially fond memories of husky cafes in Bangkok, dragonfruit in Vietnam, cats in Morocco, and gelato in Italy.
